Our Story: How AMORE FOR EVER changed our lives
In March 2022, I came into contact with AMORE FOR EVER – and it began a journey that would change my life.
Soon Samantha established the fateful contact with Daria for me. What happened next was more than a coincidence – it was the beginning of a special story…
Samantha asked me if I would be interested in meeting a young woman: Daria, who was in Varnsdorf, Czech Republic, with her five-year-old daughter Maria and her mother at the time. She fled Ukraine shortly after the war broke out.
Samantha told me that Daria speaks good German and makes an open, warm impression. She made the contact – and on April 30, 2022, the time had come: I picked up Daria at the train station in Bamberg and we spent two unforgettable days together.
At first we talked in English – her German was a little rusty, which made for some funny moments. But we quickly found our rhythm in a charming mixture of German and English. The chemistry was right from the first moment – and so it was clear to both of us: We want to see each other again.
Daria had the desire to leave the Czech Republic and start anew in Germany. In Varnsdorf, she worked in a gingerbread factory, but her true passion was dogs. Even as a child, she had been in Germany as an exchange student – she knew the country and wanted to live here.
I wanted to support them in this – not only because I wanted to see them more often, but because I felt that we had something special. Through contacts with helpers for war refugees, I managed to organize an apartment in the district of Bamberg. In June 2022, Daria, her daughter and her mother moved to Germany.
Daria found her first job as a kitchen assistant in a café – an important step towards integration. At the same time, she began to work with dogs: she went for walks, supported dog owners and was occasionally able to work as a dog trainer.
In March 2024, she was ready to stand on her own two feet financially. She was able to take care of herself and her daughter – a great moment for her.
Our relationship continued to grow during this time. In August 2024, we moved in together – and in February 2025 we said “I do”.
Our wedding was a small but moving celebration with the family. Even Daría’s mother, who had returned to Ukraine in the meantime due to a health emergency, was able to come. Her grandmother, aunt, niece and best friend were also there. The father and brother, who were not allowed to leave Ukraine, participated via video call – an emotional moment for all of us.
At the end of this story of escape, hope and love, one thing is very clear to us: Without Samantha and the AMORE FOR EVER team, we might never have found each other. We are infinitely grateful for that.
